While the computer was still in its infancy, he devoted his Ph.D. thesis to the right to information and the data protection in the computer age. Dr. Yves Burnand holds a law degree and a Ph.D. in law from the University of Lausanne. He passed his bar exam and was qualified to practice as an attorney in 1976. He is a member of the Vaud Bar Association and of the Swiss Bar Association.
His main areas of practices are Criminal law and Media law. Yves has developed a long practice in press trials, of which he prides himself on having remained a front-line fighter today. He published several articles in this field and trained generations of journalists in the knowledge of the law. Dr. Yves Burnand was also the President of the Vaud Bar Association. He drives a Harley Davidson.
